Jonathan has extensive experience running companies in the retail and manufacturing sectors, and is currently FD and Mentor to two successful young entrepreneurs. Having served as Amantani's financial advisor for several years, in 2016 the Trustees made the decision to elect Jonathan as the Chair of the Trustees - a role he gladly accepted! Having visited the projects in 2014, Jonathan has a unique understanding of Amantani's operations, from the work in the classroom to the numbers behind it all!
María José Gomez
María José was born in Spain but has lived and worked in Latin America for more than 20 years where she dedicated herself to the fight for social justice in different international organisations. Having held roles such as head of Save The Children in Peru, head of the Gender and Human Rights Division of UNFPA Mexico, and currently the Country Director for the Forge Foundation has enabled her to gather vast experience in international development.
She has a Degree in Social Pedagogy, a Masters in International Cooperation for Development by the IUDC and public policies by FLACSO. She has also completed several courses in gender, advocacy and human rights.

Martin was born in Lima, Peru. Since his move to England in 1984, his path was diverted towards an illustrious business career. Having been involved at the very highest levels of business with EMI, i-Tunes and Disney Music Group, Martin is now founder of London’s top Peruvian restaurants, Ceviche and Andina. Juan Carlos Verme
Juan Carlos is an entrepreneur, a private collector of contemporary art and an active participant in educational and cultural projects. He is the Chairman of Inversiones Centenario, President of the Board of Trustees of the Museo de Arte de Lima and Board Member of the Tate Americas Foundation. In 2014, Juan Carlos read about Amantani in the newspaper and got in touch to offer his support - needless to say that with Juan Carlos’ experience, he has a lot of it to offer!
Daughter of writer Michael Bond, for a long time, Karen was the CEO of Paddington Bear, the company which controls the rights to Michael’s creation. It was on a visit to Paddington's birthplace, 'darkest Peru', that Karen saw for herself the need for Amantani's work. On her return to the UK she found Amantani and has been working with us ever since! As well as a business background Karen has over 20 years’ experience serving as a charity trustee. Karen is involved with Amantani’s Ambassadors programme as well as leading on our Risk Management strategy.
In 1992 Mike co-founded award-winning design consultancy Pearlfisher and now runs their US studio in New York. Combining strategy, marketing and business expertise, Mike brings his calm sense, insight and knowledge to the board. Mike first visited the projects in 2007 and is our longest serving trustee.
Ben has been involved with Amantani for over eight years and has either volunteered or attended every event we have ever held! After completing the Mountbatten Internship programme in New York, Ben was offered a global post running editorial events for Reuters, then joined Getty Images to build key relationships with Broadcasters and Newspapers.
