The Boarding Houses

We manage three boarding houses which currently accommodate 64 children, who previously walked up to 8 hours daily to get to school. In the morning, the children, who are aged 8-16, attend their school as normal. In the afternoon, instead of walking home, they come to our nearby boarding houses where they stay for four nights a week. Here we offer a complimentary education designed to help these children take advantage of the modernisation of their district, rather than fall victim to it.

Each boarding house was established using the same formula: the community donates a building, the parents help refurbish it and we provide the bunk beds and a house-tutor. We have no more than twenty-two children in any one house, ensuring the family atmosphere which defines our projects.
