School Partnerships
In 2013, following twelve months of planning, Amantani will take a giant leap towards improving the education in the district of Ccorca. Having received wide recognition for our work in the boarding houses, we are honoured to have been asked to do what we do best; this time in direct collaboration with local schools.
Please look at the four strands of the project below which are bound by a single objective: 600 children benefit from an effective and relevant education, helping them to take advantage of the modernisation of their district, rather than fall victim to it.

Inspiring Schools
‘Inspiring Schools’ will work directly with all 13 schools in the district in order to drastically improve the education they offer. By providing vital educational materials and teacher-training courses, Amantani will ensure the 35 teachers in Ccorca are giving the 600 children of Ccorca the best possible start.
Sharing Wisdom
‘Sharing
Wisdom’ will invite parents and community members into school to teach
traditional skills to the communities’ young people. As homes become classrooms,
essential skills will be passed on and children will be better equipped for the
challenges which lie ahead.
Empowering Youth
Each year, through ‘Empowering Youth’, children will develop creative proposals illustrating the changes they want to see in their homes. The twenty most inspiring submissions will be awarded the Amantani Annual Youth Prize through which children will be given the resources they need to implement their proposed improvements.
Feeding Minds
'Feeding Minds' will work with schools to implement greenhouses and vegetable patches, which will offer children a sustainable source of nutrition. The greenhouse will also act as an extra 'classroom' where children will learn the importance of a balanced diet and the skills needed to sustain one long into the future.
