Pupil of Stoneygate School sell cakes! - 24th May 2011

This month, children from Stoneygate School have taken on it upon themselves to help other children in Peru. Following Chris and Fred's talk at the school in Leicestershire, Eliza, Megan and Caitlin hatched a plan to raise funds and the next weekend they called on Sophie and Lucas to help them sell cakes outside their house. Here is what their father said, "This [the talk] must have touched a nerve, as with no suggestion from either the school or us our children decided to hold a charity stall outside our house on Saturday and sell cakes to raise money for the children in Peru."

"On Wednesday evening they knocked on all the doors in our road informing people of the planned cake stall to be held at 3pm."

"By 3.05pm, we had as many as 30 people outside our house and to our astonishmnet, in a a little under two hours, the children had raised £115!"

He stressed that the sale was entirely the girls' idea and said: "We would love to thank our neighbours for their very generous support for our girls."

This inspired other children from the school to do the same and the following weekend was Tessa and Matilda and Agnes's turn to sell some cakes..! They managed to raise a further £90!
