“My family has always struggled money-wise. Without your support I wouldn’t be able to study right now. Thank you so much!”

  • I am studying to be a Nursing Technician at the Instituto Reyna de las Américas, in Iquitos.

  • What I love most about my course is practicing with my peers. I also love being in theorical classes. In practical classes, I love demonstrating how brave and skilled I am at working with needles.

  • In my free time, I go out with my cousin and do my homework. I spend most of my time at home. Studying can be hard and demanding and sometimes I stay up late finishing coursework , so I also like listening to music to calm my brain down.

  • My greatest challenge is managing my personal finances. Luckily, sometimes my aunts support me.

  • My professional dream is finding a job and supporting my family. I also want to save money. I’d also like to continue with my studies and become a licensed nurse.

Jhon

“Thank you, thank you so much. Your help has been a relief for me and my family. Thanks to your support, I am now able to study.”

  • I study Accounting, in the city of Iquitos, at the Instituto Pedro A. del Águila Hidalgo.

  • What I love most about my course is learning about business. I’d like to learn more about this and about become an entrepreneur. I would also like to know about the financial and legal aspects of formal businesses.

  • In my free time, I use the internet. Since I’m alone in the city, I also enjoy going for walks.

  • My greatest challenge is managing how much I miss my family. Distance makes it impossible for me to visit them, and talking to them on the phone is not the same.

  • My professional dream is to become an entrepreneur in my community. I want to help my family financially and support my siblings in getting an education.

Marvin

“I’m so grateful. My family encouraged me to take advantage of this opportunity, since it wasn’t going to repeat itself. They are happy and excited for me to study Environmental Engineering at university.”

  • I study at the Centro Pre Universitario de la Universidad Nacional de la Amazonía Peruana. I’m getting ready to apply for Environmental Engineering.

  • What I like most about my course is learning about natural environments. As a future environmental engineer, I will work within communities to protect the environment.

  • In my free time, I visit my uncle or play and chat with my roommates. I don’t go to parties.

  • My greatest challenge is managing my personal finances. Iquitos is more expensive than where I used to live. Sometimes, I can’t make ends meet. Sometimes my family sends me money, but it’s not enough.

  • My professional dream is being able to give my family a better quality of life. When I finish my course, I will continue to study to become an expert.

Paolo

“I’m so grateful for this opportunity to study and achieve my goals. My parents always encourage me to study. They constantly tell me this is a blessing.”

  • I am studying to be a Nursing Technician at the Instituto Reyna de las Américas, in Iquitos.

  • What I like most about my career course is socialising with my peers, working in the field, overcoming my fears and helping others.

  • In my free time, I use the internet and go for walks with my classmates.

  • My greatest challenge is handling my personal finances and being away from my family. In Santa Clotilde I was also away from my family, but not like this. I still miss them. I love when they call me and offer me advice.

  • My professional dream is to help people. As a future nurse, I want to provide an excellent service at the hospital. I also want to support my family so that my siblings can also study and we can all be able to take care of our parents.

Rider

“If I didn’t have this scholarship, I would have to find a job away from my parents. Thanks to this opportunity, I can study and my family feels relieved.”

  • I study Graphic Design at Instituto SENATI.

  • What I like most about my course is creating new designs and finding designs made by others. Learning about this makes me feel good about myself.

  • In my free time, I call my girlfriend, play, watch movie trailers online, draw and stare out the window. I only leave the house to get food.

  • My greatest challenge is handling my finances. I’d love to buy clothes, but I must use my money for food. Another challenge is getting to know the city better. I try to go on walks at night; it’s too hot during the day!

  • My professional dream is finding a job and saving enough money to study another degree related to design and digital animation. I would also love to help my parents financially. I have baby sister and I’m thinking that maybe my other sister and I could help her study, eventually.

Rocio

“I want to thank you all for the support I’m receiving. My family is very happy.”

  • I study Nursing at the Instituto de Educación Superior Tecnológico Privado Reyna de las Américas.

  • What I love most about my course is being able to help people in need. I also love talking with others; it helps me loosen up!

  • In my free time, I go for walks, talk with my peers about our life experiences or visit my friends.

  • My greatest challenge is working and studying at the same time. I had never done it before, but it’s necessary to cover food and transportations costs.

  • My professional dream is working and helping my family. It may not be much, but I want to be an example for future generations and encourage them to study as well.
