This September 400 courageous runners tackled the Full and Half Marathon around Grafham Water - all in the name of Amantani.
The weather conditions were against them from the start, but somehow everyone came together to create a sea of smiles and happiness. Our Peruvian dancers (Baila Peru and Collaborators) set the runners off on their journey at 10am and school student T. Stratton came back only 1h 27mins later, having completed the fastest Half Marathon. He was soon followed by D. Smithers who finished his Full Marathon in a time of 2h. 56mins, setting a new course record.
Not only did our heroic fundraisers complete the course with some impressive times, they also blew our fundraising expectations out of the water. £30,000 has been raised; dreams in the making!
Participants set off for home with medals around their necks; a memento of their personal journey and most importantly a token of our immense gratitude for their support of our work in the Andes.
